= 힘 아끼려고, 자기 뒤에 붙어가는 거야.

* draff off = 뒤따라 붙다 = to drive (or fly if you're a goose) just behind someone else. This uses less energy because the person in front reduces the air flow on the second car (goose).

* down the stretch = "down the stretch" means "approaching the end" (it's about something happening near the ending or conclusion). It's most commonly used in sports. = (스포츠 경기에서 주로 사용) 결승선에 다다르고 있습니다.

* seem like 주어 서술어 = ~인 것처럼 보이다.

* could use N = (spoken) if you say you could use something, you mean you would really like to have it = 간절히 가지기를 바라다.

ex) I could use a drink. = 나 정말 음료수 한 잔 마시고 싶어.

 

We do strange things for the people we love.

= 우리는 우리가 사랑하는 삶을 위해 이상한 행동을 하죠

* do 형용사 things = 형용사 한 행동을 한다.

 

We lie to them, we lie for them.

= 그들에게 거짓말하기도 하고, 그들을 위해 거짓말 하기도 하고.

 

There may be some bumps along the way, but we never stop wanting the best for them.

= 그 과정에서 여러 난관이 있을지도 모르죠, 하지만 우리는 사랑하는 사람을 위해 최고를 추구하는 걸 멈출 수는 없죠.

= 여기다 차 세워. 내가 등록증 꺼낼게. 엄마, 저 경찰 싫어요.

* pull over (to/into N) = (N 쪽으로 도로변에) 차를 세우다.

ex) Tom pulled over to the curb = 탐은 연석에 차를 갖다 대었다.

* pull up (to N) = (N 쪽으로)갖다 대어 세우다.

* pull in/into N = N 안쪽으로 들어가 차를 갖다 대어 세우다.

* vehicle registration = 자동차 등록증

* 미국에서는 차량에 registration card (등록카드)와insurance card (보험카드)를 넣어가지고 다녀야 한다. 도로에서 교통 사거나 신호 위반 등의 일이 발생하면, 도로에서 경찰이 이 두 서류를 보여달라고 요구함.

* get out N = N을 꺼내다

= 저기다 차 세워. 경찰 싫어요. 차 못 대겠어요..

* no can do = 안 되겠어요, 할 수 없어요, 그건 무리예요.. 나 못 해.

= 필! 나 벌금 맞은 적 있어.

* prior = (slang) past convictions = 과거 유죄판결, 과거 지은 죄

* Prior is usually used in the means of explaining illegal charges/offenses, whether federal or state.

ex) police officer: Sir do you have any prior's?

Suspect: Hell yeah, just got busted for sellin bud, smokin bud, and growin bud.

* In this situation “prior” just means “previous”. It is taking about your “record” (it just refers to anything you’ve gotten into trouble for with the law (I.e. prior convictions)

 

Parking ticket from the mall.

= 쇼핑몰에서 주차권말이야.

 

I never paid the parking ticket. Keep moving, sweetheart.

= 주차 요금 지불 한 적 없어. 계속 가라, 애기야.

 

Dad agrees with me. I can speed up.

= 아빠도 맞다고 하잖아요. 속력 더 올릴 거예요..

* speed up = 속력을 더 올리다.
